So about a week ago, the friend of a very close friend and sorority sister was attacked in North Carolina in a LGBT-related hate crime. They were verbally harassed and then physically assaulted because of the way their attackers perceived their sexual orientation.

The problem is, North Carolina’s laws on hate crimes don’t extend to those based on sexual orientation, so the attackers will not be treated the same as if they were attacking the same people based on race or gender or anything innate that seems more “worthy” to be government protected. A petition has been started, so if any of my followers could just take a second and sign it, that would mean the world to me and my sisters.
